Phone installation for Yealink 40G
The following includes step-by-step instructions for how to install your Yealink 40G phone.
How do I attach the desk or wall mount?
Desk mount method
- Locate the stand bracket slots on the back of the phone.
- Choose your tilt angle by selecting how you insert the bracket.
- Option A - Insert the bracket using the upper set of slots. This results in the phone sitting at a 40° tilt angle.
- Option B - Insert the bracket using the lower set of slots. This results in the phone sitting at a 45° tilt angle.
- Snap the stand into either the A or B slot on the back of the phone, depending on your preferred viewing angle: 40° for a flatter stance, 45° for a more upright one.
Wall mount method (optional)
- Rotate the hook 180° so the notch faces upward ensuring the handset stays secure.
- Attach the wall mount bracket into the back of the phone.
- Secure the bracket connections.
- Mount the phone flush against the wall with the screen facing outward and the handset resting horizontally in its now-rotated hook.
How do I connect the handset (and optional headset)?
- Connect the handset by plugging the handset cord into the bottom of the handset and into the handset port on the back of the phone (marked with the handset icon).
- Connect the headset (optional) by plugging the cord into the headset port on the back of the phone (marked with the headset icon).
- Connect a wireless headset adapter (optional) by plugging it into the EHS port.
How do I connect the network and power?
You can connect your network and power using one of the following methods. See your system administrator to determine which of the two power and network connection options to use:
- AC Power
- Power over Ethernet (PoE)
AC Power:
- Connect the power adapter to the DC5V port on the phone. Then, plug the other end of the power adapter into an electrical power outlet.
- Connect the Ethernet cable into the Internet port on the back of the phone and then into the wall or switch/hub device port.
Note: Only use the Yealink original power adapter (5V/600mA). Using a third-party power adapter may damage the phone.
Power over Ethernet (PoE):
- Connect the Ethernet cable into the Internet port on the back of the phone and then into an in-line power switch/hub.
Note: Make sure the switch/hub is PoE-compliant. If in-line power is provided, do not connect the phone to the power adapter.
What happens during the phone initialization?
Once the phone is powered on, the system performs the following actions:
- Automatic Phone Initialization: The screen displays "Welcome Initializing…please wait" while the phone finishes initialization by loading the saved configuration.
- DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol): By default, the phone attempts to contact the DHCP server in your network to obtain valid IPv4 network settings (e.g. IP address, subnet mask, default gateway address and DNS address).
